DHARWAD: T.G. Doreswamy Naik, Inspector General Police, Northern Range, Belgaum, has called upon police personnel to respond to the problems of the public to win their confidence. He was speaking after receiving a guard of honour from the eleventh batch of women police constables who completed their training at the District Police Training School here on Saturday. Mr. Naik said that the role of women constables in developing a systematic society was crucial. He underscored the need for treating the public who come to the police station with love and respect. In order to give impetus to solving the problems of women at the earliest, the number of women police personnel in the department was gradually being increased, he said. He later distributed prizes to the trainees who were adjudged best trainees. Earlier B. Shrikantappa, Superintendent of Police, Dharwad district, welcomed the gathering and conducted the oath taking ceremony. N.G. Sanikoppa, Deputy Superintendent of Police, reading out the report of the activities of the school, informed that in the eleventh batch, 181 women police constables were trained. R.B. Patil, DSP, proposed a vote of thanks. Later, the trainees presented various programmes.
