Directive against extravagance

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Chief Electoral Officer has directed candidates against using more than three vehicles at a time when they tour the constituencies for electioneering. Using more than three vehicles in convoy would not be permitted, the Chief Electoral Officer said in a press release on Sunday. Even in the case of Union/State Ministers, the maximum number of vehicles in a convoy should be three, not counting the vehicles carrying security personnel. The district authorities should ensure that all candidates closely follow this stipulation. The candidates should give the particulars relating to the vehicles they would be using for campaigning to the district election officers and obtain prior permission. They should also inform the authorities about the areas (taluks) where they would be using these vehicles.
