VILLUPURAM: Lightning claimed the lives of three persons and a cow in Villupuram district on Sunday. The deceased were identified as P.Bhoomadevi (45) of Ayankunjavaram in Ilavansurkottai, K. Sankar (75) of Paasar in Thirukkoilur and V.Murugesan (47) of Murukkampadi near Manalurpettai. The cow was scorched to death when lightning struck the grazing animal at Ilavanasurkottai. S.Vellakkaran (55) of Quad Colony in Ulundurpet died when the asbestos sheet of a hut blown over by a gust of wind fell on his head.
