PONDICHERRY: Police are on the lookout for three men - Jayakumar, Kumar and Udayakumar supporters of PMC Bahour (reserved) candidate Rajavelou - who allegedly assaulted one Dharani, a supporter of Kandasamy, the Congress candidate for the same constituency on Sunday. The incident happened when the trio went to Pilliarkuppam and assaulted Dharani and also threatened other locals. When a crowd gathered in support of Dharani the three men escaped and are still to be traced. The crowd then staged a road roko on the Cuddalore Road demanding action against the men, who attacked Dharani. Police, who rushed to the spot pacified the people and also took a complaint against the three men. The incident is a fall out of a scuffle that happened last night between supporters of these two groups in a local temple festival in which Kamalakkannan and his friends, who are supporters of Rajavelou were injured.
