Sri Kaliswari College tops group

SIVAKASI: An unbeaten 62 by Thanfa Marimuthu helped Sri Kaliswari College defeat Golden Cricket club by five wickets in the last match of the eight-team Pool `A' league in the Virudhunagar District Cricket Association second division league here recently.

It was Kaliswari College's sixth win and they now top the table with 24 points.

VHNSN College, Virudhunagar, finished second with five wins and two losses (20 points).

In the eight-team Pool `B', Srivilliputhur Town Cricket Club and Metro Cricket Club are tied for the top place with six wins and one loss each (24 points).

These four teams will play in a super league to decide the champion of the second division.

The scores (League):

Pool `A': Golden CC 134 in 29.2 overs (M.K. Arun four for 28) lost to Sri Kaliswari College 137 for five in 21.4 overs (Thanfa Marimuthu 62 not out).

Super Power CC 188 in 29.5 overs (Amutha Ganesh 62) bt Bharath CC 75 in 10.3 overs (Senthil four for 18).

VHNSN College 135 for eight in 25 overs lost to Red Sun CC 137 for five in 22 overs.

Pool `B': Srivilliputhur Town CC 154 in 29.4 overs (Balaji four for 32) bt Kamaraj Engineering College 120 in 25.4 overs (Jeyapal 40, Raja four for 21).

Boys CC 137 for nine in 30 overs bt Panthar CC 119 in 27.3 overs.

Royal CC 163 in 24.2 overs (Prabu 54, Ramkumar five for 28, Gnanavel four for 25) bt Srivilliputhur Town CC 145 in 27.5 overs (Gnanavel 72 not out).
