Pulse Polio immunisation drive covers 3 lakh children in Mysore district

MYSORE: As many as 3.06 lakh children were administered polio drops in the district as part of National Pulse Polio Day on April 9.

According to a release from the office of the District Health and Family Welfare Officer, 1,580 polio drop centres had been established in seven taluks of the district, besides the city region.

As many as 3,160 groups were formed to go on house-to-house visits. Polio drops were administered to children at specified centres on April 9. A door-to-door campaign was carried out to cover those who were missed on the day.

As many as 97,862 children were administered the drops at the 300 centres set up in the city. The next round of the Pulse Polio drove would be organised between May 21 and 24. The programme was being organised according to the directions of World Health Organisation, the release added.
