Nine persons killed in two accidents

SANGAREDDY: Five people including a five year-old girl and a woman were killed and six others injured when the autorickshaw in which they were travelling was hit by a speeding truck in Mukkinbagh of Zaheerabad in Medak district.

The deceased were identified as Sraddha (5) and Seshamma of Udumanelli, auto driver Chand of Mangulli, Mohamad Hussain of Bongur and Shaik Hussain of Zaheerabad. Of those injured, the condition of three was said to be serious.

SI, constables dead

Our Correspondent from Mahbubnagar reports:

In the second accident a Sub-Inspector and three constables of the Chittoor district Armed Reserve Police lost their lives when the van in which they were returning from Hyderabad hit a lorry at Rangapuram in Mahbubnagar on Saturday night.

While constables Jagannatham and Srinivasulu died on the spot, SI Sankar and Jyoti Reddy another constable succumbed to injuries at the Kurnool General Hospital. Kurnool SP B. Malla Reddy visited the hospital and enquired about the health of the eight injured constables.
