MORE PROMISES: Chief Minister Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy interacting with Dwcra women at Srinagar village in Dachepalli mandal of Guntur on Sunday

DACHEPALLI (GUNTUR DT.): Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy promised farmers continuous power supply even at the cost of imposing cut for domestic consumers in urban areas.

Addressing a public meeting here on Sunday as part of Praja Patham programme, he said that there was shortage of power in the State, but Government was trying to purchase as much as possible from all sources and provide maximum hours of supply for the agricultural connections so that rabi crop was not affected.

"I will ensure that fields do not dry up due to lack of power supply for pumpsets," he said in response to a demand for longer hours of power supply for agricultural connections.

He said that Rs.31 crores would be sanctioned for three major drinking water schemes in the district.

Earlier, at a grama sabha at Srinagar village people sought lift irrigation schemes and special power lines for 16-hour supply. Dr. Reddy promised to get plans approved for the Morzhampadu and Gamalapadu lift irrigation schemes with a layout of Rs.14.31 crores.

Promising to step up credit flow under the Indira Kranti to Women's SHGs, he said last fiscal Rs.98 crores was given in the district. This would be increased to Rs.150 crores this year.

Ration cards would be given to all eligible and distribution would begin in a week in the region. On his way back the Chief Minister undertook an aerial survey of the ongoing Pulichintala project works.
