... but CLP is all for it

Special Correspondent

"Are you afraid of facing the truth," members ask Naidu

Hyderabad: The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) has welcomed the Government move to file criminal cases against the TDP MLAs claiming it would expose the devious design of the TDP.

In a statement here on Sunday, the CLP secretaries, E.Pratap Reddy, S.Gangaram and K.Surekha, said it was ridiculous that the TDP was objecting to the criminal cases now. Reminding them that they themselves had sought forensic evaluation of the documents in the past, they wondered why they were crying foul over the cases now.

"If they are sincere, they should allow the law to take its course", they said asking the TDP to not politicise the issue. There was no vindictiveness involved in the decision. "Are you afraid of facing the truth?" they posed a question to TDP president N.Chandrababu Naidu.

Continued tirade by the TDP leaders on the tenders issue might have irked Chief Minister Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy to resort to the move, other members of the CLP felt.

Nellore MLA, Anam Vivekananda Reddy, said "the TDP leaders asked for it. No member can waste the precious time of the House on fabricated evidence. Assembly should be treated as temple of truth. People will lose faith in it if members make false charges. The Government, in fact, has given a long rope to the TD leaders by keeping quiet all these days".
