NEW DELHI: With the Supreme Court directive now making it mandatory for all school Boards to declare results of Class X and XII by June 10, the Council of Boards of School Education in India (COBSE) has got cracking.

To ensure that school results are announced well in time, COBSE has written to all Boards asking them to make sure that they complete their work well ahead of time.

And if the response of the Boards is anything to go by, then most of them have agreed to announce the results by the last week of May.

"We had written to all the Boards asking them to ensure that they did not get too close to the Supreme Court deadline. And most Boards have written to us giving a very positive response. Most have said that they will be announcing the result by the last week of May, which is well before the deadline,'' said COBSE general secretary D.V.Sharma.

Attempts are also on to study the Board results of the last couple of years to understand how students have been coping with the changes in examination patterns.

"We are looking hard at how a change in the IIT entrance exams are going to affect student performance. The results this year will be an indication of how students have responded to the change,'' added Mr. Sharma.

With the emphasis shifting to de-stressing of education in recent times, the last COBSE meeting had seen school Boards across the country stress the need to promote fine arts and life skills in school education.
