Third day of relay hunger strike by Congress MLAs

Today the strike will shift to Yusuf Sarai

NEW DELHI: Krishna Nagar District Congress Committee president and MLA Amrish Gautam on Sunday sat on a hunger strike at Mayur Vihar Phase-III here to protest against the sealing of shops in residential areas of the Capital. Mr. Gautam was supported by his block committee presidents and office-bearers of his district.

It was the third day of relay hunger strike called by MLA and former Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Subhash Chopra and former Delhi Minister Parvez Hashmi.

A large number of Congress workers and office-bearers of various shopkeepers' associations took part in the protest along with the MLAs.

The MLAs assured the shopkeepers that they would continue their protest against the sealing of commercial establishments in residential areas till the people of the city got relief.

On Monday, the relay hunger strike will shift to Yusuf Sarai, the constituency of Kiran Walia, MLA and Delhi Commission for Women chairperson.
