Shankar triumphs

VISAKHAPATNAM: Top seed V. Shankar of Delhi won the above-45 singles title in the CMR-AITA veterans ranking tennis tournament here on Saturday.

Shankar beat wild card P.K. Kishore of Andhra Pradesh 6-3, 6-3 in the final.

Madhav Ghate of Maharashtra defeated R.V. Rammohan (Andhra Pradesh) 7-5, 6-2 in the above-55 years final and Keshav Perumal (Tamil Nadu) downed Ramesh Gautam (Uttar Pradesh) 6-3, 6-0 in the above-65 years final.

In doubles, C.B. Raju (Andhra Pradesh) and Gautam claimed the above-65 title with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over S.K. Rednam (Andhra Pradesh) and Keshav Perumal.

T.A.P.N. Rao (Andhra Pradesh) and Srikanth Parekh won the above-55 title, beating R.I. Singh and D.S.N. Raju (Andhra Pradesh) 7-5, 6-3 in the final.

Winners in children's tournament:

Boys (under-10): 1. Devang Singh, 2. Rahul. Under-12: 1. K. Srinivas, 2. K. Suryavamsi. Under-14: 1. S. Tanmay Reddy, 2. S. Vamsikrishna.

Girls (under-12): 1. Jyotsna Reddy, 2. J. Sai Lavanya. Under-14: 1. Nikki Gargi, 2. N.B. Saranya. — Special Correspondent
