Centre seeks report
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI:
Concerned over the escalation of naxalite violence in Chhattisgarh, the Union Home Ministry has sought a report from the State on Sunday's attack, in which 11 policemen were killed.
Union Home Secretary V. K. Duggal spoke to police and administration officials in Raipur and asked them to step up security. Sources said the Home Ministry kept a close watch on the situation and all Central help would be extended.
The latest attack came three days after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh held a meeting with Chief Ministers of naxalite-affected States to review the law and order situation.
