Ram Babu demands CBI probe into blasts
He said such incidents have been happening regularly at in the area and only a CBI investigation can bring out the real cause of the blasts. The Shahi Imam of the Jama Masjid Syed Ahmed Bukhari had also demanded a CBI probe on Saturday to bring out the real culprits behind the blasts.
Teacher arrested for molestation
The victims had gone to Gagan Bharti School for their science practical tests. Around 11 a.m., after the tests were over, three students raised an alarm alleging that a teacher on examination duty had tried to assault them. Soon, they were joined by three others who too alleged that the teacher had tried to approach them. The victims said the accused took them to a room one by one and tried to assault them. Subsequently, the school staff and several area residents overpowered the physical training teacher, later identified as Paramvir Singh Gehlot, and called in the police. He was placed under arrest. Senior police officers of the district lauded the courage shown by the students.
Three held in
dowry case
Aman Singhal was married to Sapna on February 16. On Saturday, she consumed poison after which she was admitted to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital. She was then shifted to St. Stephens Hospital where she died late at night. Enquiries revealed that Aman, his brother and mother used to harass Sapna for dowry. Subsequently, they were arrested.
Three arrested for carrying firearms
According to the police, Vijay Raj and Chander Singh were arrested with two firearms on Sunday near the DTC depot at Mayapuri. During interrogation, they allegedly disclosed that they were from Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh. They had bought the weapons from one Imran in Ghaziabad. In another case, Ishwar Chand was arrested while he was fleeing after committing a robbery at Nangli Sakrawati on Saturday. A country-made firearm was recovered from his possession.
Prince Brijendra Singh of Chamba dead
Mr. Singh, 55, died of cardiac arrest on Sunday morning at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital where he had been admitted on April 14 after he complained of chest pain, according to hospital sources. He had been admitted to the Gastrology department. His body would be flown to his native place in Chamba, today, where the last rites would be performed.
