NEW DELHI: A 26-year-old newly married man allegedly shot his wife and then himself at Rohini in North-East Delhi on Sunday. He had married the woman against the wishes of his parents. According to the police, Sandeep Rathi was a cable-sub-operator at Barwala village in North-West Delhi. He fell in love with a 22-year-old Savita Sahni, but his parents objected to their relationship. Savita then eloped with Sandeep on March 30, after which they reportedly got married in Hardwar. The couple returned to the Capital about three days ago and were living in a flat at Rohini. On Sunday, Sandeep's brothers and cousins met him and tried to convince him to severe his relationship with the woman, at which Sandeep lost his cool. He bolted the door of his room from inside, shot his wife dead with his licensed revolver after which he shot himself.
