Traffic jam on road leading to OU catches motorists unawares
|
Roadmap of little help in identifying test centres Buses hired by other institutes add to the chaos
HYDERABAD:
There was a massive traffic jam on the Osmania University route for more than an hour on Sunday morning and afternoon due to large turnout of students for the entrance test for admission into the two-year coaching for IIT-JEE in Chukka Ramaiah's Institute. Motorists and pedestrians were put to hardship as they were caught unawares. Chaos prevailed among students in identifying examination centres though a roadmap was printed overleaf the hall-tickets. Over 12,000 candidates from different parts of the State appeared for the test at five centres in the campus.
With more than 25,000 people turning up along with the students, OU campus was choked.
Police helpless
With the OU campus road providing the only connection between Shankar Mutt and Tarnaka, traffic could not be diverted anywhere. Police were totally helpless as the buses hired by a prominent IIT-JEE training centre created havoc on the roads.
