Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala chapter of the Cardiological Society of India will organise a national mid-term Interventional Council Meet 2006 here at The Leela, Kovalam, from April 21 to 23. As many as 500 interventional cardiologists from across the country will take part in the three-day conference. The interventional procedures in India have made rapid advancements in technology as well as expertise in recent times and these procedures have changed the face of cardiac care and patient management. The interventional procedures have become safer and with diversification into carotid and peripheral stenting, percutaneous valve replacement and non-surgical applications in congenital heart diseases, the results are almost comparable with that of Western countries. Comprehensive national data on coronary, non-coronary and peripheral interventions will be presented at the conference.
