Miraculous escape for father, relatives

HYDERABAD: A third class student was killed after he was struck by lightning at his house at Marthandanagar in Hafeezpet on Sunday afternoon.

Abdul Sattar, 8, was playing in front of his house when the thunderbolt struck. His father Khader and other relatives, who were standing hardly 40 yards away from the spot, had a miraculous escape.

Sattar, who suffered serious injuries, was shifted to a nearby private hospital where he was declared brought dead by doctors on admission. Miyapur Inspector J. Badreshwar said Sattar was a student of a private school at Miyapur. Khairatabad legislator P. Janardhan Reddy accompanied by senior officials visited the spot and consoled the bereaved family.

The boy's body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital mortuary for conducting an autopsy on Monday.
