This Day That Age
The President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, presented certificates of merit to 10 railwaymen from various parts of the country at a function at the New Delhi railway station on April 16 - the concluding day of the Railway Week. He also opened the new building of the New Delhi railway station, constructed at a cost of Rs.20 lakhs. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Prasad said the construction of the new railway station for New Delhi would be considered perhaps the most impressive of the steps so far taken to provide facilities to local and outside railway passengers in the capital. The Railway Minister, Mr. Lal Bahadur Shastri, said the Railway Week would have served its purpose if it helped in building up good and happy relations amongst railwaymen themselves and more so with the users of the railways.
