BANGALORE: The Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) has informed 153 candidates who have been selected for Karnataka Administrative Service posts that they can file objections, if any, to the selection list within 15 days from Monday. KPSC Secretary B.S. Ramaprasad told The Hindu that the candidates' main concern would be marks awarded to them in the personality test and interview, out of a total of 200. While the written test for 1,800 marks is generally not questioned or can be easily verified, it is the interview scores that candidates fear could be manipulated, he said. Mr. Ramaprasad said the system usually followed was for the KPSC interview panel to award marks to candidates in the personality test and assess their performance at the interview. While drawing up the selection list, the merit of the candidates as well as their preference had to be taken into consideration. In case of two candidates being awarded the same score, the date of birth was taken into consideration, and the senior candidate was given first preference, he said. The list of 153 selected candidates published on Monday displays the total marks and the order of seniority, along with the date of birth. However, some candidates may have objections, and feel that their preferences have not been considered, or that they have been placed in wrong categories. Fifteen days have been given to resolve these issues to the satisfaction of the candidates. Mr. Ramaprasad said major recruitments planned by the KPSC included filling of 100 vacancies of cooperative auditors. The Urban Development Department had sought candidates for 283 vacancies in the post of health inspector. Candidates had been selected and they would have to appear for interviews. The selection of 116 surveyors was under way, he added. The Commission has two vacancies of members. Mukundappa resigned a few months ago to contest an election, and another member has retired.
