BSF jawan's body arrives

Coimbatore: The body of a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan K. Balakrishnan who was killed in a firing across the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir arrived Coimbatore Airport this morning on its way to Dindigul district.

The body was brought to Jammu and was airlifted to New Delhi and then to Coimbatore by Indian Airlines Flight No IC 657.

Received

The body was received by the officials at BSF unit at Thekkalur near Avanashi in Coimbatore and the Deputy Commandant S. Ganesh, placed a wreath on it.

Later it was taken by road to Ragalapuram in Sanarpatti on Dindigul - Natham Road.

The jawan joined the BSF in 1999 and was attached to 153 Battalion of BSF.

He was on duty along the LoC in Mendher taluk of Poonch district when he suffered a bullet injury in exchange of fire across the LoC on April 15.

He is survived by wife and has no children.

Cremation

Cremation was scheduled to take place at his native place in Dindigul district in the evening with full honours.
