CORPORATE RESULTS

HDFC Bank pays 55 p.c.

HDFC Bank posted an increase of 30 per cent at Rs. 263.21 crore in its net profit for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2006 against Rs. 202.37 crore in the same period in 2004-05. Total income grew 54.8 per cent to Rs. 1,682.65 crore from Rs. 1,087.27 crore. The board has recommended a dividend of 55 per cent per equity share of Rs. 10 each for 2005-06. For the year ended March 31, 2006, the net profit stood at Rs. 870.78 crore against Rs. 665.56 crore. Total income grew to Rs. 5,599.32 crore from Rs. 3,744.83 crore in 2004-05.

UTI Bank Q3 net up

UTI Bank recorded posted an increase of 30 per cent in its net profit at Rs. 151.73 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2006, against Rs. 116.54 crore in the corresponding period in 2004-05. Total income grew 46 per cent to Rs. 1,060.72 crore from Rs. 722.42 crore in the year-ago period. The board has recommended a dividend at 35 per cent for 2005-06, subject to shareholders approval. For the year ended March 31, 2006, the net profit stood at Rs. 485.08 crore against Rs. 334.58 crore for the same period in 2004-05. Total income increased to Rs. 3,618.42 crore from Rs. 2,339.98 crore.

GA Cements' interim

Gujarat Ambuja Cements has more than doubled the net profit for the third quarter ended March 31, 2006 to Rs. 315.70 crore from Rs. 155.60 crore in the corresponding quarter in the previous year. The company announced an interim dividend of 50 per cent (Re. 1 per share of Rs. 2 each) on equity capital of Rs. 271.02 crore. According to a company release, the company has achieved a turnover of Rs. 945.75 crore against Rs. 898.74 crore. The operating profit has risen to Rs. 392.76 crore from Rs. 258.76 crore, an increase of 52 per cent. On a standalone basis, the net profit has increased to Rs. 298.59 crore from Rs. 143.11 crore. The turnover on a stand alone basis has risen by 39 per cent to Rs. 924.29 crore from Rs. 667.24 crore and the operating profit to Rs. 375.14 crore against Rs. 207.57 crore.

CMC raises dividend

CMC posted a net profit of Rs. 8.55 crore in the quarter ended March 31, 2006 against a net loss of Rs. 16.72 crore for the corresponding quarter in the previous year. Total income rose to Rs. 259.71 crore from Rs. 215.45 crore, up 20.5 per cent. The company's board has recommended a dividend of 50 per cent against 45 per cent.

For the year ended March 31, 2006, the company reported a net profit of Rs. 44.11 crore against Rs. 23.05 crore for the corresponding period last fiscal. Total income increased to Rs. 857.75 crore from Rs. 782.47 crore.

Nestle India's interim

Nestle India has declared an interim dividend of Rs. 6 per share. The interim dividend will be paid on and from May 9 together with the final dividend for the year 2005 of Rs. 2 per shares.
