KADAPA : The State Cabinet on Monday approved alienation of 34.60 acres of Government land to Devunikadapa Police Housing Society towards allotment of house sites to 480 police personnel at Ramanjaneyapuram here. Stating this at a press conference here, Kadapa DSP and society president M. Ramprasada Rao and Andhra Pradesh Police Officers Association district president N. Chandrasekhar Reddy said two housing colonies to be built for police personnel from constable to DSP cadre would be named as Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy Colony and Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy Colony. The Chief Minister would give away house site pattas to policemen on May 23 coinciding with his father Y.S. Raja Reddy's death anniversary, they said.
Less than market value
Though the Collector recommended market value of Rs. 3 lakhs per acre for the land, Dr. Reddy pruned down the price to Rs. 76,000 per acre, on the initiative of his son Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy. Each member of the society would be allotted five cents each, they said. Bill Gates Foundation was being approached for construction of houses free of charge to the cops, they added. The society overcame several obstacles posed by anonymous petitioners and got the land sanctioned with the help of the Chief Minister, his son and J.J. Reddy, they said.
