Bangalore: Health and Family Welfare Minister R. Ashok has said that the Government is committed to developing the spot where Kannada matinee idol Rajkumar has been buried at Sri Kanteerava Studios here into a memorial. Mr. Ashok, who is the Minister in charge Bangalore district, inspected the spot along with the senior Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) officials on Monday. He told presspersons later that there was a growing stream of people visiting the studios every day. He said that the barricades would be put up around the grave. The Minister said he had asked the BMP officials to prepare four sets of blueprints for the memorial. They would be submitted to Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy for approval. The Government would hold discussions with citizens, film personalities and family members of Rajkumar before finalising the blueprint. He said basic facilities such as drinking water, lighting arrangements and transport to the burial spot would be provided immediately. The Chief Minister was studying the possibility of inviting giants of Indian cinema to the Palace Grounds here on April 24 to participate in a condolence meeting. On the statements by some criticising the poor security arrangements made in Bangalore on Wednesday and Thursday, the Minister advised the Opposition not to politicise the issue. Rajkumar belonged to the entire State and no one should try to appropriate him for partisan ends, he added.
