COMPUTER ANIMATED: A scene from `Ice Age: The Meltdown'
NEW DELHI: Together they had managed to melt hearts despite the freezing sub-zero conditions they lived in. And that done, the ice age pack is back. Only, this time they are bringing us the real meltdown. This coming Friday will see Warner Bros bring to town the first big summer release for kids in the form of "Ice Age 2: The Meltdown". Promising to tickle the funny bone are Manny the woolly mammoth, Sid the sloth, Diego the saber-toothed tiger and the hapless pre-historic squirrel Scrat. Directed by Carlos Saldanha and the Academy Award winning creators of "Ice Age" and "Robots", the sequel will present the end of ice age and the delight of the animals at their discovery of a new world. With the first part of the film winning over not just children but also adults, the sequel has much to look forward to. Lending their voice to the sequel are Ray Romano, John Leguizamo and Denis Leary who will be the new Manny, Sid and Diego. Still together and basking in the perks of a melting world, the trio have a new set of problems to deal with. Manny is ready to start a family, except he has come to believe he may be the last mammoth in the world. That is, until he discovers Ellie the last surviving female mammoth of the world. The trouble is the two just can't stand each other. While Ellie comes with excess baggage in the form of her two brothers Crash and Eddie who are a trouble making duo, Manny, Sid, and Diego quickly learn that the warming climate has a major drawback: A huge glacial dam holding off oceans of water is about to break, threatening the entire valley. With the only chance of survival being reaching the other end of the valley, the three heroes begin their journey with Ellie, Crash and Eddie to embark on a mission that has as its backdrop a dangerous landscape. The new additions in the sequel include voiceovers by Queen Latifah of "Chicago" fame, Seann William Scott from the "American Pie" trilogy and the late night talk show king Jay Leno and Will Arnett of "Arrested Development" and Josh Peck of "Drake and Josh".
