HYDERABAD: The results of first year Intermediate examination are likely to be released on Wednesday, according to sources in the Board of Intermediate. The results of Intermediate second year are likely to be declared on April 26 or 27. - Special Correspondent

Inter Board directive to private colleges

HYDERABAD: Private junior colleges in Ranga Reddy district have been asked to submit applications for extension of provisional affiliation, including sanction of additional sections, for the academic year 2006-07 before April 29. They must submit required documents and DDs to the Secretary, Board of Intermediate Education, Nampally. A press release issued here on Monday by B. Gowri Naidu, Regional Inspection Officer, said no college could open any additional section/group/course in any medium without the board's prior permission. - Special Correspondent

Arrears for SCCL workers released

HYDERABAD: The State Government has announced release of the third and final instalment of arrears in wages to workers of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) to a tune of Rs. 367 crores.

It has asked the company management to make the payment to workers by next month-end. Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who made the announcement at a press conference, said the arrears were due to the workers as a sequel to the seventh wage agreement. They were paid 30 per cent of the arrears amounting to Rs. 160 crores in two instalments in 2004 and 2005.- Staff Reporter

YSR's interactive show on Doordarshan today

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Doordarshan Kendra will telecast an interactive live programme with Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy at 6 p.m. on April 18. Twenty persons from different walks of life will participate, according to a press release issued here. - Special Correspondent

Telugu Desam, Congress workers clash

ADILABAD: A clash between TDP and Congress activists at Akkapur village in Nirmal mandal on Monday resulted in injuries to Poshetty, a Congressman. The clash occurred towards the end of a Praja Patham meeting which was addressed by Nirmal MLA A. Indrakaran Reddy. During the meeting, TDP activists raised questions about partiality in distribution of weaker section houses and sanction of transformers to Congress-stronghold villages. Soon after the MLA left the venue, the clash ensued. - Staff Reporter

Plan to include sports

in school syllabus

SRIKAKULAM: There is a proposal to include sports in the school syllabus. Talks are being held with officials concerned in the Education Department, according to G. Kamala Vardhana Rao, Managing Director, Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh. Speaking to newsmen here on Sunday, Mr. Rao said that SAAP was giving priority for giving training to sports persons. - Special Correspondent

YSR condoles death of Kodela's son

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has expressed grief at the tragic death of K. Satyanarayana Rao, second son of former TDP Minister Kodela Sivaprasada Rao in a road accident in Medak district on Sunday night. In a condolence message, Dr. Reddy conveyed his condolences to Dr. Rao on Monday.

Jail for 10 for running bogus institute

ELURU: Second Additional First Class Magistrate K. Hanumantha Rao on Monday sentenced 10 persons to undergo two years rigorous imprisonment for running a bogus educational institute. The convicted persons were: Chalamalasetti Satish Kumar, correspondent, Chalamalasseti Narayana Rao, Principal, and eight others of `Ravi Post-graduate College' based in the city.
