KOCHI: The emergency toll-free number to contact the Coast Guard Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre has been changed from 1718 to 155 204. A press release issued by the Indian Coast Guard says that this is a category-II service with restricted accessibility. Mariners and fishermen should, henceforth, call the new number. Speedy communication to the Coast Guard will enable it to take timely action and maximise operational efficiency, to prevent loss of life and property at sea, the release says.
