BMP budget forwarded to Government

  • The budget was presented on March 24
  • BMP hopes to obtain the Government's approval within 20 days
  • Civic body owes contractors Rs. 170 crore

    BANGALORE: The Bangalore Mahanagara Palike's Rs 1,870-crore budget for 2006-2007 was forwarded to the State Government on Monday for approval.

    The budget, presented on March 24, was approved by the BMP Council on April 3. The BMP hopes to obtain the Government's approval within the next 20 days.

    BMP Additional Commissioner (Finance) P.K. Srihari told The Hindu on Monday that the original budget estimates and the additional resolutions approved by the Council on April 3 had been sent to the Government. "Our grants, which were till now between Rs. 65 crore and Rs. 70 crore have been increased substantially from this time onwards. We have got around Rs. 100 crore till now and hope to get Rs. 30 crore more by Tuesday," he said.
