BANGALORE: Four men on Sunday night stabbed a housewife, robbed her of her gold ornaments worth Rs. 40,000 and took away Rs. 35,000 from her house in Jnana Bharathi police station limits. Police said the incident occurred around 8.30 p.m. at Shankarappa's house at Teachers' Colony in Nagarabavi when his wife Saraswathi was alone at home. When someone knocked on the door, Saraswathi opened the door. The strangers asked her whether Shankarappa, a private factory employee, was at home. Even as she was talking to them, they stabbed her with a knife and pushed her into the house. They take away Rs. 35,000 kept in a cupboard and robbed her of a pair of gold bangles, earrings and a chain. The Jnana Bharathi police have registered a case.
Cashier robbed
Four men waylaid a fish merchant's cashier and robbed him of a bag containing Rs. 74,000 in Jeevanbimanagar police station limits on Sunday night. Police said Shivashankar, who works with a wholesale fish merchant in Russell Market, was returning to the shop after collecting money from retailers. A youth, riding a motorcycle, dashed against Shivashankar's two-wheeler on 11th Main, 2nd Stage, HAL. As Shivashankar fell, the youth and his three accomplices, who came on another motorcycle, threatened him with a knife and snatched the bag containing cash from him. The Jeevanbimanagar police have registered a case on a complaint by Shivashankar.
