`Loading'adjudged best film at JNU film festival in Delhi

Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: `Loading' directed by Raj Divakaran has been adjudged one of the best films at the first short and documentary film festival organised by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in Delhi from April 14 to 16. Four other films were also selected as best films.

`Loading' has been included in the `touring festival' category to be screened on select campuses in the country. The festival was organised by the university in association with Max Muller Bhavan to provide a platform for up-and-coming filmmakers and students to interact with prominent film personalities and critics.

Special screening

Apart from showcasing Indian films, a special screening was organised for German films at the festival. The German films were selected from the `Short and Sweet II' collection of the Goether-Institut.

As many as 100 entries were received at the festival where films from Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Spain were also screened.

Video games

`Loading' deals with the negative impact of video games on children, says its director. Raj Divakaran, who works as a creative director at Raj Television in England, says that the film's storyline was inspired by the annual report of the American Psychological Congress in 2005. "The report says that children who are exposed to video games are prone to violence. The film is a study on the impact of such games on children's psyche," he says. Roshan Prasannan has cranked the camera and Ashok and Rajesh Thanu edited the film.
