KOZHIKODE: Prize winning entries and select paintings of children who participated in the painting contest `Greenserve Chitrolsavam 2006,' organised by `Green World' on its premises at Vengeri on April 11, are being exhibited at the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi Art Gallery here from April 17 to 19. Paintings by K.V.Vijith, the first C.P. Raman Nair memorial gold medal winner for painting, instituted by the CPR Trust, are on display. The medal has been instituted with a view to encourage artistic sensibilities among children. Vijith, a Class VIII student of the Government Ganpat Boys School, Kozhikode also came first in the high school category. The C.P. Raman Nair medal, and other prizes were presented at the programme organised at the Kerala Lalithakala Akademy Art gallery premises on Monday. Vijith's watercolour painting depicts Nature in all its finery. Sreenihal's painting depicting a herd of goat stood second. Mithun Murali won the first prize in the higher secondary section, P. Rohit (upper primary), J.S. Sheetal (lower primary), and Adityan (kindergarten). The Akashavani Station Director C.P. Rajashekharan inaugurated the exhibition. Director, Greenworld, T. Shobeendran presided.
