THRISSUR: District Collector K.S. Premachandra Kurup, who is also the District Election Officer, has warned of stringent action against candidates who violate the Model Code of Conduct of Election. In an official release issued here on Tuesday, the Collector warned that candidates who undertake campaigning in violation of the Model Code of Conduct will be disqualified and election in their constituencies can also be deferred. He said some candidates had put up campaign materials that had been removed earlier as per the directive of the election observers. This will invite strict action, Mr. Kurup warned.
Permission needed
It had been made clear that election campaign materials should not be displayed in Government and semi-Government institutions as well as in public sector undertakings, or on their walls. The permission of the owners should be obtained for the display of campaign materials on private walls. The permissions should be made available for verification whenever demanded, the Collector said.
