R. Mano surrenders after filing nomination

The Congress candidate was granted a one-day interim anticipatory bail

CHENNAI: Congress candidate for R.K. Nagar `Royapuram' R. Mano filed his nomination on Monday and later surrendered to the Anna Salai police. He has been remanded to judicial custody for 15 days. The Madras High Court had recently granted a one-day interim anticipatory bail for Mr. Mano to facilitate filing of his nomination. The Court ordered that after filing nomination the Congress leader must surrender to the Anna Salai police, who are investigating his alleged involvement in an attempt to murder case.

The case relates to violent incidents at the Tamil Nadu Congress headquarters at the Sathyamurthy Bhavan on March 25.
