Annual day celebrations at PES college

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: To make a mark, one just needs to have self-confidence and belief in one's capabilities, Minister for Higher Education D.H. Shankaramurthy told PES Degree College students. He was speaking at the annual day function of the college here on Tuesday.

Many parents wanted their wards to take up either medicine or engineering courses, he said.

"It is not true that only doctors and engineers will be successful. Graduate courses are equally important. I have had a successful career and I have done just B.Sc.," he said.

Mr. Shankaramurthy said that Infosys Technologies Ltd. had promised to create job opportunities for over 60,000 B.Sc. and B.Com graduates. "When this is the case, one can no longer say that only doctors and engineers will be able to make it big. The perceptions of society is also undergoing a change," he said.

Future generation

"You are the country's future generation. You can achieve anything you put your mind into. One only needs self-confidence and be hardworking," he added.

M.R. Doreswamy, founder chairman of PES Institutions, spoke on the occasion. M. Rukmangada Naidu, principal of the college, presented the annual report.
