BELLARY: A `bharani' made of copper, containing gold and silver foil, gold coins and a few gems, was found on Sunday at a mantap near the Achyutraya temple complex in Hampi. Official sources said the `bharani' was found under the floor of the mantap when conservation work was under way. The Archaeological Survey of India is realigning the ancient mantaps. The `bharani,' with an opening 6 cm in diameter, contained gold and silver foil, six gems, three gold coins called `pana' and small pieces of gold. Officials said the mantap might have been used by a goldsmith.
