KUTC plea to Governor

KANNUR: The Kannur University Teachers' Collective has appealed for the Governor's intervention to rectify `administrative deadlock' in the university. In a representation to the Governor, who is also Chancellor of the university, KUTC general secretary M. Dasan said that despite the statutory requirement that statutory officers of the university be available at the university headquarters round the clock, most of the statutory officers were away from the administrative office on most working days. He said that the newly recruited permanent teaching staff had not been paid their salaries even after three months of their appointment. Dr. Dasan said that the Internet connection on the Thalassery campus, which used to be available for 24 hours to students and the staff, had not been available for the past one week. Although this was reported to the Registrar, no action had been taken. He also said that despite repeated requests, the university had not done anything to rectify the statute violations involved in the appointment of the lecturer in virtual media in the Department of Studies in English. — Staff Reporter
