Sankaracharya's visit concludes

Kasaragod: After his four-day visit to Kasaragod district, Jagadguru Sankaracharya Bharathi Thirtha Mahaswamigal returned to Kotekar in Karnataka on Tuesday.

The Sankaracharya of Sringeri Saradapeedam was given an official guard of honour at Thalappady, bordering Mangalore, Kasaragod districts in the evening.

Hundreds of devotees were present to witness the traditional farewell function. Politicians, community leaders and the local people were among them.

Earlier in the day, the Jagadguru blessed the volunteers at Malla. He also planted a neem sapling on Malla Durga Parameswari Temple premises. He then proceeded to Ananthapura via Nellikatte, Badiadka.

At the Ananthapura Ananthapadmanabha Temple, the Sankaracharya inaugurated work on covering the `Kadusharkarayogam' with gold and silver. He also offered 32 gm of gold from the Sringeri Mutt for the purpose of covering the idol made of 64 herbal trees. The 32 gm of gold marked the number of years he had spent at the Mutt.

In his benedictory address, the Sankaracharya said the supreme force could be worshipped in all forms. Visiting the ancient temple had made him happy, he said.

Five Members of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly and several distinguished persons from Maharashtra participated in the programmes. Sri Sarada Sankara Seva Samithi general secretary and reception committee organising secretary Kannur P.N. Gopalakrishnan was also present.

The Sankaracharya also visited the Edaneeru Math. A reception-puja was performed there. In the afternoon, he visited the Hanuman temple at Arikkadi.
