NEW DELHI: Terming the agitation of the Congress MLAs and Councillors against the ongoing sealing and demolition drives as a "political drama", Leader of the Opposition in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi Subhash Arya on Tuesday said they should immediately resign and force Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit to put in her papers if they were really concerned about the sufferings of Delhiites. "The power-hungry Congress MLAs and Councillors are trying to befool the people by sending in their resignations to Delhi Congress chief Ram Babu Sharma and not to the Delhi Assembly Speaker or the Mayor. On one hand the people of Delhi are being rendered jobless and homeless by the MCD squads, while on the other the Congress is trying to derive political mileage out of it," alleged the senior Bharatiya Janata Party Councillor. Accusing the Congress of having failed miserably to save the homes and shops of people in the city despite being in power at the Centre, State and in the civic body, Mr. Arya said it was the responsibility of the Congress to ensure that a suitably amended Master Plan was immediately implemented.
