BANGALORE: The seat selection schedule for candidates who appeared for the Postgraduate Entrance Test (PGET) of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) is likely to be announced only after April 21. According to RGUHS Vice-Chancellor P.S. Prabhakara, the counselling is likely to commence by April 25. But before that, the university has to secure the seat matrix from the Centre. The seat selection process is expected to start once 50 per cent of the postgraduate seats are allotted for the all-India quota. The Supreme Court has approved a revised time schedule for completion of admission to postgraduate medical courses for 2006-07.
COMEDK proposal
Meanwhile, the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) has proposed to offer 73 unfilled postgraduate medical and 12 postgraduate dental seats on April 27, along with seats that may be left vacant after cancellations. These seats will be offered once again under the respective reserved categories. If they are not claimed, they will be put under the general merit category. In the counselling held recently, 497 PG medical seats out of 570 were allotted. All 256 PG dental seats, barring 12 seats under the Tulu minority quota, were allotted. The seats will be offered on April 27. But if they are not filled, colleges will have to fill them either through the RGUHS quota or the all-India stream, according to COMEDK Executive Secretary S. Kumar. According to the new schedule, PG admissions will have to completed by June 30. The first round of counselling for the 50 per cent all-India quota will be held between April 21 and May 4 (including Sundays). For State quota, it will be over by May 30. The last date for joining colleges under the all-India quota is May 19.
