Noisy scenes in Assembly

Staff Correspondent

DEHRA DUN: The Uttaranchal Vidhan Sabha witnessed uproarious scenes on Tuesday with Bahujan Samaj Party members led by Narayanpal entering the well of the House seeking a detailed discussion on steps being taken for the welfare of peasants and Dalits. They returned to their seats after the Speaker, Yashpal Arya, promised to hear them later.

Ajay Bhatt and Prakash Pant of the Bharatiya Janata Party sought an explanation why over Rs. 27 crores had been spent in the name of infrastructure for the Capital in Dehra Dun when the issue of a permanent Capital for the State was yet to be settled. The members seemed to be taken aback when Parliamentary Affairs Minister Indira Hirdeyesh said the Congress Government was awaiting the recommendations of the Capital Identification Commission set up during the BJP regime.
