U.P. creates novel staffing pattern

Categorises Government drivers for better promotions

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Government on Tuesday decided to create a novel staffing pattern for government drivers by dividing them in four categories along with ample opportunity of promotions. The State Cabinet here approved the recommendation made by the Empowered Committee headed by the Chief Secretary.

Briefing mediapersons here chief secretary Naveen Chandra Bajpai said the government would have to spend Rs 2.78 crores per year now as the pay scale of drivers would range between Rs 3050 to Rs 8000 in all the four categories.

The Cabinet also approved another recommendation of the committee to revise the pay scale for the post of Visually Challenged Chair Weavers, applicable from January 1996.

In another decision, the State Cabinet revised certain clause of the earlier Government Order issued in December 2005 on housing policy, increasing the land area to be provided to the investors to 500 acres. Earlier it was a maximum of 100 acres.

For getting government licence, the builders now have to compulsorily show 25 per cent of land of their project. Earlier there was no need of showing any land for procuring licence.

Besides, for approval of the Detailed Project Report (DPR), the builders will have to show only 60 per cent of the land to be acquired by them, while the State Government will compensate a maximum of 20 acre of land in alternative places, if their land fell in the green belt. -- UNI
