SANGAREDDY : P.V.Sunil Kumar, who was holding the position of SP CID, Hyderabad would take over as SP Medak. The outgoing SP B.L.Sujatha Rao would replace him at the same office. An IPS officer of the 1993 batch, Mr Sunil Kumar was a first ranker from Osmania University in his Masters in Sociology. He completed probation at Warangal and joined as ASP, Pulivendula. In 1997, he was promoted as additional SP Bellampalli and within a year he was promoted as Superintendent of Police.
Earlier postings
His earlier stints were that of group commandant of Grey Hounds, assistant director of APPA, Commandant of Fourth battalion, SP Srikakulam, Hyderabad DCP (East) and SP CID. Mr Sunil Kumar is a native of Chintalapadu near Sattupalli of Khammam district. Speaking to The Hindu The Hindu over phone, Mr Sunil Kumar said that he would like to be known as people- friendly officer. Even though he would like to study the situation in the district before setting up his goals, he said that he would stress that even the poorest of the poor should be respected and served in each police station. Mr Sunil Kumar who published `Browsing Home' (Illu Ela Cherukovali), a guide for school children to reach home safely and avoid being kidnapped has a soft corner for children.
