Computer peripherals destroyed in fire

CHENNAI:
A fire broke out in a shop in Royapettah in which software materials such as UPS systems, cables and switch boxes were destroyed on Tuesday.
According to Fire and Rescue Services authorities, the fire was noticed at the shop on Bharathi Salai, Royapettah, around 7.45 a.m.
Three tenders were pressed into service and they put out the fire in about two hours. An electrical short circuit in the shopcould have caused the fire, the officials said.
Road accident
An MTC bus knocked down a 35-year-old man at Velachery on Monday night. Police said the victim, B. Edwin Nathan (35), a resident of 8th Street, Velachery, was on his way to Guindy from Velachery. Edwin was on the Velachery Main Road, when the bus hit his two-wheeler. He died on the spot. The Guindy Traffc police arrested the MTC driver, R. Kadirvelu. Investigation is on.
