Abu Dhabi: While the men in blue and green fought it out in the middle, it was Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf who was the cynosure of all eyes at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, where the first of the two India-Pakistan ODI matches was played here on Tuesday. Dressed in a grey suit, Gen. Musharraf, also chief patron of the Pakistan Cricket Board, was here for the charity matches, proceeds of which will go to the victims of last year's earthquake in Kashmir. In the VVIP enclosure, Gen. Musharraf was accompanied by International Cricket Council Chief Executive Malcolm Speed, PCB chief Shaharyar Khan, Board of Control for Cricket in India president and Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar and politician Amar Singh. Mr. Pawar and Mr. Khan are expected to submit the Asian Test playing nations' joint World Cup bid to the ICC in Dubai on Thursday.
The General proved to be a lucky charm for the Pakistani bowlers as they mowed down the Indian top order, and had Rahul Dravid's men reeling at 72 for 4 at one stage. UNI, PTI
