Laudable feat

Dollu Kunitha is a folk art where drummers sometimes end their performance with a flourish, some of them balanced on the shoulders of others and continuing with their spirited drum-beating. Not an easy art for the visually challenged to perform.

Students of Shree Ramana Maharishi Academy for the Blind did just that last week. They proved that with good practice and coordination, the physically challenged are ready to take on other challenges in life.

Those who saw the feat were rightly impressed at the way the children went about combining music and acrobatics. Guru Vinod Kumar of Natyabhushan Kala Kendra trained the students. K. SATYAMURTY
