Thiruvananthapuram: The Union Ministry of Railways has revised the tatkal scheme for booking of railway tickets in order to make it more customer-friendly. As per the revised procedures, the existing advance reservation period of three days has been enhanced to five days, excluding the day of journey. Booking of tickets under the scheme has been extended to more trains with Internet and e-ticketing facility as well. Auto upgradation is done for general confirmed tickets and tatkal confirmed tickets alternately. According to the Railways, there is a higher possibility of auto upgradation for those having confirmed tickets under the tatkal scheme. Under the revised tatkal scheme, wait-listed tickets will also be issued to the extent of tatkal quota.
