Pondicherry
Special Correspondent
Pondicherry: The Collector and District Election Officer of Pondicherry G. Theva Needhi Dhas has said that candidates filing nominations here should get prior permission to hold processions. Mr. Dhas said that the last date to file nominations was April 20. The processions should not also cause hindrance to the smooth flow of traffic. Not more than the permitted three vehicles would be allowed in the procession and there should be no disturbance to public peace. Only three vehicles would be permitted within the 100-metre zone from the office of the Returning Officer. The candidate, his proposer and four other persons alone would be permitted to enter the precincts of the Officer. The number of vehicles allowed in procession taken beyond the 100-metre zone too should be limited to three. Action as contemplated under relevant legislation would be taken against candidate and his supporterscontravening the conditions governing the permission to take out procession.
