CHITTOOR: Medical and Health Minister K. Rosaiah said that the Government has allocated Rs.2,216 crores for medical and health department in the 2006-2007 budget. Addressing a function organised in connection with the Maha Arogya mela here on Wednesday, he said that the Government would ensure there was no shortage of medicines in the hospitals. The rural community health centres would be developed with Rs.895 crores and steps will be taken to fill the vacant teaching staff posts in medical colleges in the State. Union Minister of State for Health and Family Panabaka Lakshmi said that Aasha programme would be held from May 2-6 in which awareness about the institutional deliveries would be created. The Minister said that trauma centre will be opened at the Chittoor Government Hospital. Srinivasa Trust Chairman and MP Audikesavulu Naidu organised the mela.
