VIJAYAWADA: There is some good news for paddlers from Andhra Pradesh. Keen to add modern training module in its coaching regime, the Andhra Pradesh Table Tennis Association (APTTA) has decided to acquire two-stroke practice machines from Germany. The two machines, which are expected to arrive by June, will be put to use in Hyderabad and Vijayawada. According to APTTA secretary and Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) joint secretary S.M. Sultan, the machines will help paddlers fine-tune their skills in a more effective manner. "These machines will throw balls continuously to the player at the other end in different velocity. The player should be literally be on his or her toes as the balls are thrown in different angles with an element of spin," he added. Sultan also said the association would be getting equipment worth Rs. 1.25 lakh under the subsidy scheme of the TTFI. "Equipments, such as rubbers, ply, Nittaku balls and tables worth Rs. 4 lakh are given to State association for Rs 1.25 lakh. A Mark `V' rubber, which is Rs. 675, is given to the paddlers for Rs. 275. All the ranked players in the eight segments will be benefited by the scheme," Sultan said. Sports Reporter
