Rs. 12.28 crore donated
Abu Dhabi: The India-Pakistan cricket one-dayer at the Zayed Stadium here on Tuesday served its purpose more than well, with dirham 10 million (Rs. 12.28 crore) donated to the victims of Kashmir earthquake last year.
The UAE Minister for Higher Education and Scientific Research, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, handed over a cheque for dirham 2.5 million to Sharad Pawar, president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and dirham 7.5 million to the Pakistan President, Pervez Musharraf, for the victims on either side of the border.
The amount is part of the proceeds of the match played at the Zayed International Cricket Stadium here. PTI
